Certificates of Deposit (CDs)

Alamo Capital has specialized in Certificate of Deposits (CDs) since 1987.  We have an in-house fixed income trading desk that is focused in having access to competitive CD offerings for our clients.

What are Certificates of Deposit (CDs)?

Certificates of deposit are promissory notes issued by financial institutions and typically pay a set interest rate for a specified period of time.

  • CD’s usually offer more interest than a typical savings account but less than a bond may offer.
  • Brokered CD’s are issued by banks through a broker and can be an advantage for investors because the broker can often negotiate a higher rate than the individual investor would be able to.  The broker can do this because they are able to pool investors together and offer the bank a larger amount thus negotiating the higher rate.
  • Brokered CD’s are FDIC insured up to $250,000 similar to if you purchased a CD at your local bank.

Alamo Capital offers secondary liquidity on CD’s bonds and offerings can be found on BOLTS.  To view our BOLTS (Bonds On-Line Trading System) inventory please here.
